How Solar can chill the bills?

The latest cooling/heating systems linked to solar panels can crush power bills.

“Many people with solar don’t realise how much more they could be saving in household running costs if they upgraded their cooling/heating systems,” says David Sharpe, of Adelaide’s Sharpe Energy Hub.

“If you don’t have solar and green products you aren’t thinking clearly and are missing out.”

Sharpe Energy Hub offers a range of high-efficiency reverse-cycle and evaporative cooling systems, tailored to suit any application.

The Mitsubishi Electric systems it sells runs the new R32 refrigerant, which improves energy efficiency and increases performance on hotter Adelaide days.

“The comparisons between previous generations of cooling systems and the latest versions are amazing,” Mr Sharpe says. “Efficiencies are beyond what most people realise – where you can enjoy up to 47% in Energy Savings.”

Modern systems have never been more efficient. The best can produce 3kW or more of cooling or heating for every kW of electricity used.

New inverter technology has also boosted savings. Whereas older systems devoured power by switching on and off as temperatures changed, inverters allow air-flow fans to run at variable speeds.

Controls that can be activated remotely, and maintain peak efficiency of operation.

South Australia’s dry climate makes evaporative air-conditioners another viable option.

The technology has also evolved in evaporative systems, which are great for allergy sufferers and those with respiratory issues.

It is important to buy the best quality.

“Buyers often get tempted by what they perceive as a cheap product but any savings in purchase price is quickly eaten up by heavy running costs,” says Mr Sharpe.

“Solar and green-energy products are the best investment you can make for your house, which is your greatest asset.”

Sharpe Energy Hub has consultants ready to explain all solar and related cooling-heating options on display at its Port Road, Thebarton, showroom. It has the experience and knowledge of 39 years in business.
