Why don’t my cakes rise?

If your flans are failures, your tarts terrible and your sponges shocking, it may not be your fault. A defect in your oven can lead to temperatures that are too low or inaccurate. Trying to conduct precision baking with a faulty oven is an impossible task. If your electric oven or stove isn’t performing as well as it used to, you may be tempted to replace it with a new electric of gas cooker. There are at least two good reasons why you shouldn’t do this. Firstly, poor performances issues can be easily resolved by a qualified technician. Correct testing of your appliance by a Sharpe Licensed Technician will reveal that you most likely need to replace a faulty component rather than the whole unit. Secondly, this will save time and money compared to purchasing a brand new stove or cooker.

Electric vs Gas

Research has come to light suggesting that electric stoves and ovens are better for your health than a gas equivalent. Gas stoves release more toxic chemicals, both from the gas and the food that is being cooked. The study determined that cooking resulted in the increased production of potentially dangerous chemicals such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), heterocyclic amines, mutagenic aldehydes and ultrafine particles.

Sharpe Electric Appliance Technician Terry has been inspecting and repairing stoves and cookers in Adelaide for over 20 years. His most common Question:

Q: Why is my oven failing to heat or reach the required temperature?

A: Most oven problems are related to faults in your stove’s elements or controls which need to be professionally diagnosed, tested and repaired. Temperature issues could also be caused by faulty fan motors or damaged internal wiring.

Signs and Symptoms: Electric Oven Problems

If you notice any of these, get a professional Sharpe Technician to examine your appliance.
