Power outages can be a common issue as the weather cools. If the house suddenly goes dark follow this simple plan

First, check that the main safety switch has tripped in the switchboard. If it is OK, look across your neighbourhood and see if it is in darkness, meaning that the problem is with the main electricity supply to your suburb. In this case you will have to wait for the power authority to reconnect it.

If the lights are still working in your house but the kettle or fridge isn’t, check the relevant circuit breakers in your switchboard.

Lighting and appliances operate on different circuits, so something as simple as a faulty toaster could have tripped one of the power circuits.

Please call Sharpe on 131 750 if you suffer power outages, so we can discuss your situation, and if required – come out to check your switchboard and wiring as applicable.
