Looks like things got pretty hot in the bathroom recently?

Looks like things got pretty hot in the bathroom recently? You bet. Fortunately our Sharpe technician was called urgently when his unit started smoking.

What did you find out? Enough to write a small book on how not to install and maintain a bathroom fan-light-heater. When it was installed the ceiling insulation was too close to the unit and some of the material eventually fused to the casing, partly melting the plastic. This resulted in one of the globes burning out. As well as this the unit had never been cleaned and so accumulated fluff could also have ignited, causing a house fire. We also think it has been left turned on too long and this has aggravated the situation.

So you shouldn’t leave fan-light-heaters on for very long? Always check the manufacturer’s instructions but, generally speaking, these lamps are designed to heat a person drying off after a shower, not left on to heat the whole bathroom. The best practice is to run them with the fan also turned on to prevent any risk of overheating. Also clean them regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

So I shouldn’t be scared of these heat lamps? Absolutely not. Combination fan-light-heaters have transformed bathrooms in recent years, they are described as standing under a summer sun. We can supply and install one from $349. It will give you instant warmth while removing steam and moisture from the bathroom.
