SERVICE, QUALITY & HIGH STANDARDS

The once-in-a-lifetime storm has hit Adelaide. If your property has suffered any major damage your electrical system could be a potential killer.

If power has been cut to your property and there is obvious water inundation you must get a qualified and registered electrician to check your entire electrical system, including all appliances.

Sharpe technicians can be there within the hour. Call us on 131 750.

Here’s a basic safety checklist for householders.

If you are being threatened by floodwater or rainwater entering your house:
1: Turn off all power sources, including gas and electricity.
2: Stay tuned to local radio or the ABC for weather advice and warnings. If possible access extreme storm warnings on the Bureau of Meteorology website at www.bom.gov.au/sa/warnings/
3: If emergency workers are in your street, obey their advice and instructions.
4: Check that your neighbours are safe.

After the water risk has subsided:
1: Do not attempt to turn the power back on if any water has entered your house. The State Emergency Service advises you get a qualified electrician to check the entire system. Call Sharpe on 131 750.
2: If power wasn’t disconnected during the storm don’t assume everything is OK. Check the switchboard for any signs of water entering the cabinet. If there is any evidence of dampness, turn off the mains power switch and call Sharpe on 131 750.
3: Be aware that tap water may be contaminated if your street has suffered flooding or landslides.
4: Check the SES website for updates and warnings at ses.sa.gov.au
