Faulty Air Conditioner Starts fire that Destroys House

A house North of Adelaide was recently destroyed by a fire – when a fault, electrical in nature, started in the air conditioner. It subsequently took 22 fire-fighters an hour to put the blaze out. The property was almost destroyed, with damage estimated at $300,000.

The SA Metropolitan Fire Service receives over 12 calls each winter relating to air conditioner fires. Faulty air conditioners in Adelaide have been responsible for damages over the last four years totalling over $1.6 million.

The MFS has repeatedly advised residents to ensure that their systems are regularly serviced by licensed technicians and in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.

Air Conditioners are the most frequent source of appliance fires. A lack of maintenance on your reverse cycle air conditioner can create a severe fire risk as well as dramatically pushing up your electricity bills.

Air Conditioner Service Savings

Keeping warm will represent 40% of your electricity bill this winter. A poorly maintained air-conditioner could increase your electricity costs by another 20%.

A fault in your Air Conditioning unit could leave you with an expensive repair bill and without adequate heating for days.

Using portable electric heaters puts your family at risk and it costs over three times as much to heat your home.

Have your Aircon checked bi-annually

An inspection in the summer may not protect your unit from the demands of cold weather. Avoid the stress of being left without any heating by trusting a qualified experienced Sharpe Technician to ensure that you system can cope with the demands of winter heating.
