Can you move my solar system to a completely different house?

Yes. This is a common service for homeowners who have invested in high-quality systems and are moving within Adelaide. The new roof is assessed for compatibility, the system is decommissioned at the old address, and the re-engineering and SA Power Networks application at the new property are managed on your behalf.

How long does the removal and reinstallation process take?

A standard 6.6kW system removal typically takes 3 to 4 hours. Reinstallation takes a similar amount of time. For system relocations to a new property, the timing is coordinated to minimise the period the system is offline.

Why Remove and Reinstall Solar Panels?

Solar panels are designed to operate for decades, but your home’s needs can change over 20+ years. There are several common reasons why Adelaide homeowners require our removal and reinstallation services:

Roof Repairs or Upgrades: If you are replacing your tiles or treating your metal roof, the panels must be carefully removed and stored.
Repositioning & Optimization: Moving panels to a different roof face to avoid new shading from vegetation or neighboring developments.
System Relocation: If you are moving to a new property and want to take your solar investment with you.
Warranty & Safety: Removing older components for manufacturer testing or replacing recalled isolators and wiring.
Renovations: Temporary removal to allow for second-story extensions or home improvements.

FAQ

Equipment Removal, Relocation & Reinstallation FAQs

Yes. This is a common service for homeowners who have invested in high-quality systems and are moving within Adelaide. We will assess the new roof for compatibility, manage the decommissioning at the old address, and handle the re-engineering and SA Power Networks application at the new property.

If your current system is more than 8–10 years old, it is often more cost-effective to install a new, higher-efficiency system. However, if you have a modern system with a high-quality inverter, relocating it is a great way to maintain your ROI. We can provide a clear upfront quotation for both options so you can compare.

We treat solar panels as sensitive electrical equipment. When we remove them, they are stored vertically and protected from the elements to ensure the glass and internal cells are not compromised during your home’s construction or repair phase.

Typically, a standard 6.6kW system removal takes 3 to 4 hours. The reinstallation takes a similar amount of time. If we are moving the system to a new property, we coordinate the timing to minimize the period your system is offline.

If your roof has been damaged in a storm and needs immediate repair, we aim to be on-site within 3 hours to safely decommission the solar array.
