What is the 2026 "Cheaper Home Battery" Rebate?
The rebate functions through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). When you install an eligible battery, these certificates are generated based on the system’s capacity and assigned to us. We then apply the value of these certificates as a direct, point-of-sale discount on your invoice.
Key Rebate Deadlines for 2026
The federal government has scheduled significant adjustments to the program for 2026 to align with declining technology costs. Timing your installation is critical:
- Now – 30 April 2026: The STC factor is currently at its highest 2026 level of 8.4. For a standard 10kWh battery, this translates to an upfront discount of approximately $3,110 – $3,360.
- From 1 May 2026: The STC factor reduces to 6.8. Additionally, a new tiered structure will be introduced, meaning larger systems will receive a lower rebate per kWh for capacity exceeding 14kWh.

Eligibility: Does Your Home Qualify?
The CHBP is not means-tested, making it available to most Adelaide households and small businesses. To be eligible for the upfront discount:
- System Size: The battery must have a nominal capacity between 5 kWh and 100 kWh (STCs are capped at the first 50 kWh of usable capacity).
