A simple servicing schedule for your evaporative air-conditioner can prevent costly problems to the unit, and risks to you and yours!

House fires and legionnaires disease outbreaks have been directly linked to evaporative air-conditioning safety, or lack thereof.

Sharpe Services, along with safety authorities, advise that Evaporative Units and Air Conditioning Units be serviced on an annual basis to ensure that filters and vents are clean, and that wiring, and electrics are still in good functional condition.

Basic maintenance can be undertaken by any householder with some practical skills and the correct system manual, however, a service is another matter altogether. Every year or so, according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, householders need to have their systems professionally serviced.

Fire-fighting authorities, both here and interstate, also stress the importance of professional maintenance.

Servicing involves detailed testing and checking and is the only way you can really prevent expensive and dangerous problems arising.

How do we know? Simple. At least 80 percent of our service requests are from homeowners whose systems are not working properly because they haven’t been correctly serviced.

The major issue with evaporative ducted-air-conditioning systems is that if there is a major component failure that has the potential to overload wiring, the fire will often start undetected in the roof.

Evaporative systems are simple in operation and quite safe if they are properly cared for. Truth is, householders are only too willing to maintain and service their cars, which they use every day, but don’t have the same attitude towards their major household cooling and heating systems !?!

Remember, servicing and maintenance is a lot cheaper than repair and replacement.
