Wiring Worries
My Safety Switch Trips Every Now and Again. Should I Be Worried?
Yes, if it resets OK then trips again it’s an indication of a malignant problem. You should get a qualified technician to check it out.
What do you usually find when you investigate?
If it’s not a circuit that’s been overloaded by an appliance that draws too much power, often it’s faulty wiring, like this job we went to last week.
That’s not exposed wiring is it?
Sure is. The conduit covering wiring running between a house and garage had disintegrated. We replaced it and fitted combined safety-switch/circuit-breakers for complete safety from overloads and electrocution.
I suppose these issues get worse in winter?
We get cases of rodents chewing cabling in the roof space and stormwater getting into switchboards. So it makes sense to get your electrical system checked for winter.
