What happened?

The homeowner had lost reception so we fitted a new antenna but it wasn’t as simple as it sounds. Adelaide has some of Australia’s best TV reception as many suburbs are line-of-sight with the Mt Lofty towers. But there are pockets that can experience difficulties, including interference from upgraded 4G network phone towers. We installed the latest digital-only antenna, which has an integral 4G filter. Many households are still relying on analogue-digital combination antennas.

Is that a bad thing?

A clear and precise HD-digital picture starts with a quality single antenna, appropriate for local frequencies and tough enough for Australian conditions. Most reception issues relate to the antenna, which may be old, incorrectly installed or damaged by weather.

So what’s a typical cost for the latest digital antennas?

We can supply and install a quality antenna with fascia/wall bracket and one outlet or splitter from $349 per unit. But we can also improve the experience further. For example, at Hawthorndene we added a TV outlet on the deck. Now the client can watch the footy final while hosting a barbecue.
