Switchboard Safety Upgrade
Safety Comes First
When Glen called Sharpe, his home was still running on an old-style rewireable fuse switchboard. These older boards don’t just struggle to keep up with modern electrical loads — they also pose real safety risks, from fire hazards to electrocution.
What We Did
Our technician, Scott, disconnected and safely removed the old switchboard. A brand-new 8-way switchboard was installed, complete with:
- An 80A main switch
- 5 new RCBOs (Residual Current Devices with Overcurrent protection)
- Fully insulated adaptable bussbar
- Clear circuit labelling for easy identification
Scott also tested every circuit to ensure correct operation and compliance, before issuing a full Electrical Safety Certificate.
Alongside the switchboard replacement, Scott:
- Installed a new 200mm bathroom exhaust fan wired to the light switch
- Connected and commissioned a new cooktop, including a local isolation switch
- Removed the old appliances and disposed of all waste
Why It Matters
A switchboard is the heart of your home’s electrical system. Without modern safety switches, your family is at risk of:
- Fire hazards from overloaded or deteriorating circuits
- Electrocution risks without RCD protection
- Costly breakdowns caused by vermin damage or aging wiring
- Insurance issues, as damage from outdated electrical systems is often not covered
Upgrading brings peace of mind, ensures compliance with Australian Standards, and protects both people and property.
Don’t Let Old Wiring Put You at Risk
Aging switchboards and outdated fuses can be a hidden fire hazard. Regular electrical servicing checks for vermin damage, overloaded circuits, and faulty wiring before they become costly or dangerous.
