If Your Electric Hot Water Fails

First check that the relevant switchboard circuit breaker hasn’t tripped and that the unit’s isolating switch is turned on.

If the circuit breaker has tripped it usually indicates a problem with either the cylinder’s thermostat or the element. Both require a qualified electrician to repair so call Sharpe Group straight away and book in an expert.

Sometimes the problem lies with the switchboard as the circuit breaker may be undersized for the hot water unit installed. A Sharpe Group electrician will examine all possible causes, including this.

A major leak from the cylinder indicates terminal corrosion and unit replacement is the only solution. Consult your appliance handbook and turn off the water supply, followed by the relevant switchboard circuit breaker so the unit doesn’t keep heating the water. Then call a Sharpe Group specialist.
