Solar Cowboys

It was a bit of a shock to read in the newspaper that 700 solar installers have gone bust. What’s going on? That’s a national figure counted over the past eight years. There’s been around 80 go bust or disappear in South Australia over that period. It highlights the importance of getting long-established and fully accredited companies to work on your solar system.

What happens if the company that installed a system isn’t around any more? It makes it very difficult to get warranties on the original work honoured. These are called “orphan systems”. Also there is a big chance that the quality of both the installation and the components used isn’t up to current industry safety standards.

So what should I do if I have concerns? Get your system checked for both safety and performance. Our company has a lot of experience in rejuvenating older systems that had low-quality components installed in a slip-shod way that created potential fire and electrocution hazards.

Won’t this cost a fortune to fix? The good news is that the cost of quality solar components has greatly decreased in the past eight years. As well the technology has improved so using our high-quality replacement components means your system will be operating better than it ever has. And that will save you heaps of money in the long term.
